Count on “The Historian” for a Thrilling Read
I don’t really like Anne Rice. And I’m not big into vampire stories. So I was quite surprised to find myself so enraptured by “The Historian” by Elizabeth Kostova. I liken this more to an intellectual “Da Vinci Code”. You will feel as if you’ve traveled through eastern Europe by the time you finish this book (and it will take a while for you to finish this book). Yes there are a few times when the book seems to slow down to an interminable pace. No worries, it will pick back up at any moment, just keep going. Yes it jumps around back and forth in time which can be confounding and/or frustrating. Stick with it. You’ll be glad you did.
Older teens could read this book, but it’s going to take a serious reader to tackle this novel, it’s simply too large and too complex for many people.
Good for: book geeks, people who love vampires, people who enjoy a good thriller, and anyone from Bulgaria
