Suspenseful “Spencerville” still good

I live in Ohio so it’s fun to read books about my not so interesting state. “Spencerville” by Nelson DeMille is not one of his latest and it feels a bit dated (lots of talk of the Cold War). Yet it’s still a fun read.
There’s an excellent love triangle, which all good suspense novels can use, pitting a retired spy against an evil police chief. It’s got steamy romance, occasional grisly violence and some of the tongue in cheek humor that DeMille fans love.
If you like this, you may also like: “Plum Island” or “General’s Daughter” by Nelson DeMille, “Absolute Power” by David Baldacci, “Concrete Blonde” by Michael Connelly.
