Spend a Week with “Morrie”
“Tuesdays with Morrie” is one of my all time favorite books. I don’t believe that anyone can read this book and not have their life changed (I’m thinking for the better, but I suppose anything’s possible).
Not only is this a highly impactful book, it’s also easy to read. You could read it in a weekend. It WILL make you cry (even you guys out there that think you’re too “strong” to cry). This is the true story of a teacher who contracted ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) and how he still sought to teach people even as he deteriorated physically.
This isn’t a religious book, but it feels reverent. It is a soul touching book that resonates with almost anyone. It’s a book about loss, true; but even more it’s a book about love and relationships. It’s also about sharing your love with others and that may be this book’s most important lesson.
Albom’s other books aren’t bad, but none are as moving as “Tuesdays”. I do also recommend, “The 5 People You Meet in Heaven” (no, this is NOT a Christian book, anyone can read and enjoy it). “For One More Day” is my least favorite of the 3, but was still worth reading.
