What Diane's Reading

Good “Knight”

March 13th, 2009 by Diane

If you occasionally get in the mood for a sickly-sweet romance novel, check out “A Knight in Shining Armor” by Jude Deveraux. Deveraux has written a ton of romance novels in the classic style of Viriginia Henley, Nora Roberts and Danielle Steel.

While “Knight” isn’t a fantastic work of literature, it is easy to read and guarenteed to make a woman swoon. The heroine’s name is Dougless, which took me a while to get used to (you can say it’s a woman’s name from medievil times but that doesn’t mean I believe you). The hero, is, naturally, a real knight who’s magically transported into modern times wearing his armor and his poofy shorts (somehow this doesn’t attract the authorities – perhaps in England, the police are busy with more important matters).

The ending is super cheesy, but what did you expect from a romance novel that includes time travel?

If you’re into time travel, but don’t love sappy romance novels, try “The Time Traveler’s Wife” by Audrey Niffenegger or “Outlander” by Diana Gabaldon (see my review here). Both are excellent and have broader appeal than your traditional romance novel.
