Good “Knight”
If you occasionally get in the mood for a sickly-sweet romance novel, check out “A Knight in Shining Armor” by Jude Deveraux. Deveraux has written a ton of romance novels in the classic style of Viriginia Henley, Nora Roberts
and Danielle Steel
.
While “Knight” isn’t a fantastic work of literature, it is easy to read and guarenteed to make a woman swoon. The heroine’s name is Dougless, which took me a while to get used to (you can say it’s a woman’s name from medievil times but that doesn’t mean I believe you). The hero, is, naturally, a real knight who’s magically transported into modern times wearing his armor and his poofy shorts (somehow this doesn’t attract the authorities – perhaps in England, the police are busy with more important matters).
The ending is super cheesy, but what did you expect from a romance novel that includes time travel?
If you’re into time travel, but don’t love sappy romance novels, try “The Time Traveler’s Wife” by Audrey Niffenegger or “Outlander
” by Diana Gabaldon (see my review here). Both are excellent and have broader appeal than your traditional romance novel.
