What Diane's Reading

Get “Lost”

October 2nd, 2009 by Diane

Tim Cahill is a great outdoors writer and his little book “Lost in My Own Backyard” is a great example. You’ll feel as if you were IN Yellowstone National Park (better yet, take it to Yellowstone with you!).The wonderful thing about this book is that it’s NOT a travel book. Sure it has great pointers about specific trails, but it also has wonderful historical and geological information. And it’s all packaged with Cahill’s particular sense of humor (which you either love or you don’t get it).

Scared of grizzly bears? Cahill’s got a great story about that. Wondering about the petrified trees? Story about that too. All the chapters are short, so they’re quick to read and easy to absorb.

I haven’t been to Yellowstone, but “Lost” makes me eager to travel there. Well, that and the new PBS series by Ken Burns.

This would be a great book for the outdoorsman/woman in your life, for anyone traveling to Yellowstone or someone who just enjoys knowing about good trails anywhere in the world.
