What Diane's Reading

Weird Name, Weird Book

October 22nd, 2009 by Diane

Weird doesn’t mean bad, after all, I’m weird. “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle” by David Wroblewski is definitely strange. It’s important to note that it’s a bit of a Hamlet rip-off, so if you’re easily offended by the trend of authors to borrow plots/themes from classics (“Bridget Jones’s Diary” from “Pride and Prejudice” is a fine example) then you should avoid “Edgar“.

With an open mind however, most people will probably find “Edgar” to be intriguing if a bit depressing. I can enjoy a depressing book as much as the next person if it’s redeeming depressing. I missed the feelingĀ of hope at the end, but it was still an absorbing book.

And for those who love dogs, they’ll find a lot to enjoy about this book, as dogs play a pivotal role.

Thanks to Dee for suggesting this book!
