Starved for SITC? Read “Single”

April 23rd, 2010 by Diane

How to Be Single” by Liz Tuccillo is sure to remind fans of Sex in the City (which is no surprise since Tuccillo was a story editor for the series). It centers around the main characters quest to define herself as more than just a single woman and what’s happening to her friends while she’s off on this “spirit quest”.It has charming moments and a few poignant ones. The characters at least get points for being a little different from the series (though the main character is a writer). And the love situations are as complex as you’d like them to be.

The only drawbacks are that it’s a touch formulaic and lacking in emotional depth. This is a great beach book for the upcoming summer season, you won’t be sobbing in the sand and just might snicker a few times.

Just make sure and tell your husband that it’s fiction.
